Care of children with special needs can be chronic and complex. Parents and caregivers often struggle to find the resources and services for their child with special health care needs. These needs can be chronic and complex .Delaware Family Voices Family to Family Health Information Center is in a unique position to help families because we are parents who have children/youth and young adults with physical, developmental and mental health challenges. We understand the challenges families face. We have firsthand experience negotiating the maze of health care services and programs in our state. We know the issues you are facing and can help you to make informed decisions to achieve the best outcomes for your family.
We help by supporting families with children with special needs to become informed, experienced, self-sufficient advocates for their children and themselves. There is no charge for the services we provide. We are funded by a federal grant.

NAA Announces Announces Second Launch of “Big Red Safety Box”

From NAA Press Release: Boston, MA – In an ongoing effort to combat the rise in wandering-related tragedies and deaths within the autism community, the National Autism Association (NAA) announced today its second launch of “The Big Red Safety Box,” a program that provides free toolkits to caregivers with an at-risk child or adult.

Suicide Prevention Resources Page Added

We have added a new page to the resources section of our website. This new page is Suicide Prevention Resources. Currently the page lists information on two programs: Lifelines and Let's Talk. We will continue to expand this list of resources, so stay tuned.
Not My Kid: What Every Parent Should Know

The Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide (SPTS) has produced a video called “Not My Kid: What Every Parent Should Know” which can be viewed at the following link:

As per their website The mission of the Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide is to reduce the number of youth suicides and attempted suicides by encouraging overall public awareness through the development and promotion of educational training programs for teens, parents and educators.

CDC Releases New Immunization Schedule

From the CDC website: Are your child's vaccinations up to date? The Schedules list the age or age range when each vaccine or series of shots is recommended. If your child (birth through 6 years old) or adolescent (age 7 through 18 years old) has missed any shots, consult the catch-up schedule AND check with the doctor about getting back on track.

Social Security Expands Compassionate Allowances Conditions

Newborn Screening Program

Suicide Prevention Grant Announcement

Delaware Family Voices was included in this joint announcement from our U.S. Senators: WILMINGTON, Del. – U.S. Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons, and Representative John Carney today announced a total of $480,000 in federal funding for the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth, and its Families for the Delaware State Suicide Prevention and Early Intervention Project. The grant will expand the project’s capacity for crisis intervention and response, increase knowledge and awareness of youth suicide and prevention among secondary school teachers, administrators, students, and parents[...]
This Family-to-Family Health Information Center was made possible by a grant through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, Maternal and Child Health Bureau. This grant program was established by the Family Opportunity Act of 2005, amended by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010.
